Learn the fundamentals of growing fruit. Fruit trees are multi-purpose plants. They can be used for all the same reasons that you grow other trees – for shade, as a windbreak, to attract birds and wildlife, and to beautify the garden - but in addition, they give you something to eat. You don’t need a large backyard to grow fruit trees: espaliers, trellises and new dwarf varieties mean that you can grow fruit in just about any backyard.
